Environment & Safety
As a company and as individuals, we take great pride in contributing to the communities where welive and work. We also care about the environment and are proud of the many ways in which ouremployees work to safeguard it. Our persistent efforts to improve on our safe work environment continue to pay off by maintaining high standards in both Upstream and Downstream operations.
Contributing to sustainable development is integral to the way we do business. As we work to help meet the East Africa’s growing energy needs we aim to share benefits with local communities and reduce impacts of our operations, including tackling greenhouse gas emissions. We look after our people and our core values of honesty, integrity and respect for people have been laid out in our General Business Principles for over many years.
New study by Shell Springboard and the Carbon Trust reveals export boom for low carbon SMEs targeting £3 trillion global low carbon economy.
To prevent accidents, we manage safety in a systematic way and are introducing simpler and clearer requirements that are easier for people to understand and follow.
All companies’ operating under Fastenergymust manage safety in line with our Commitment and Policy on Health, Safety, Security and Social Performance (SP), or materially equivalent policy. It is supported by a set of mandatory manuals covering topics such as personal safety, road safety and process safety.
We are working to keep our staff and contractors safe by focusing on compliance and tackling the cultural issues that can lead to unsafe behavior.
Among our staff we are developing safety leadership skills, rewarding successful performance and getting better at checking that rules are being followed.
Our mandatory Life-Saving Rules reinforce what staff and contractors must know and do to prevent serious injury or fatality, such as wearing a seat belt. Those who break the rules risk disciplinary action.
